Security
Computer Security
TeamViewer uses RSA private/public key exchange (1024-bit) and AES (256-bit) session encoding.In the default configuration, TeamViewer uses one of the servers of TeamViewer.com to start the connection and the routing of traffic between the local client and the remote host machine. The software then determines how to establish a connection. In 70% of the cases after the handshake a direct connection via UDP or TCP is established, the other connections are routed through TeamViewer GmbH's router network (via TCP or http-tunneling).The key exchange also guarantees a full client-to-client data protection. This means that even our routing servers will not be able to read the data stream.
Access Protection
In addition to the Partner ID TeamViewer generates a session password that changes with every software start to provide additional security against unauthorized access to a remote system. Security relevant functions like file transfer require additional, manual confirmation of the remote partner. Also it is not possible to invisibly control a computer. For data protection reasons the person sitting on the remote computer has to be able to detect when someone is accessing the machine.  Even the Quick Support Custom Design tools are dynamically signed during generation!
I will Recommend This Software Because You Will Be Getting Big Benefit  and too This Is a Freeware Software Happy Connection....!!!

speed up torrent download speed

1.Go for healthy seeds and peers
increase torrent downloading speed by choosing healthy seeds
A peer is any computer participating in the download and upload of a torrent file. A seed (or seeder) is anyone who has one complete copy of the file being shared across the torrent network. A leech (or a leecher) is the person who does not have the complete file yet but has joined the network to download it. A leecher becomes a seeder when he downloads the entire file and then shares it across the network.
For high torrent speeds, the best bet is in numbers. The greater the number of seeders, the healthier the torrent and the better the chance of higher speeds. The rule of thumb says to choose the torrent files with a high number of seeders and preferably lesser number of leechers i.e. a higher seed-leecher ratio.

2.Get through the firewall

Firewalls can block all incoming BitTorrent connections coming through. To ensure otherwise, a firewall should be manually configured to accept the connections and let it through the client. Windows XP has the Windows Firewall. Configure the firewall installed to accept the connections by checking the BitTorrent client on the allowed list i.e. Options – Preferences ““ Connection – check Add uTorrent to Windows Firewall. Also, check the Windows Firewall exception (if you keep it enabled) in your client too. Shutting down the firewall is not recommended as it leaves the computer open to attack.

3.Limit your upload rate
A peer to peer network is all about sharing alike, but an unlimited upload rate hits the download rate too. Using the speed tests, find out your maximum upload speed and then set your client’s upload rate (Global Upload Rate in uTorrent) to about 80% of your maximum upload speed. You can also try varying your upload speeds ““ keep it high initially and then gradually bring it down towards the middle of the download.
Note: Mind the speed units ““ it may be given in kilobits per second (kb/sec) or kilobytes per second (kB/sec). 1 kilobyte = 8 kilobit

4.Go to a different port
The default port for the BitTorrent protocol is any between port numbers 6881-6999. ISPs throttle traffic on these ports as BitTorrent sharing involves high bandwidth usage. It’s easy to configure a different port in your torrent client. Use some number above 10000 to get around ISPs and also avoid problems with other applications. By default, the uTorrent port is randomized each time it starts. Set a specific port by not enabling the Randomize Port setting.

5.Bandwidth and connections

Your BitTorrent client’s settings options will let you enter figures for ““
Global maximum number of connections gives the maximum number of connections that a BitTorrent client can make for any P2P exchange. Setting this too high does NOT mean higher speeds. Setting it too high would take up useless bandwidth and too low a figure would miss out on peers. For my 256kbps connection, I have a setting of 130.
Maximum number of connected peers per torrent gives the maximum number of peers that a BitTorrent client can connect to for any P2P exchange. Experiment by setting this number close to the available peers for a particular torrent. For my 256kbps connection, I have a default setting of 70.
Number of upload slots per torrent gives the maximum number of peers that a BitTorrent client will upload to for any P2P exchange. A low setting may affect downloads. For my 256kbps connection, I have a setting of 3.

The new Windows 8 operating system is now available and it faces users with a lot of changes. There is, for example, no start menu and no task bar on the start screen, which has tiles instead.

Those who would like to switch between programmes must instead move the mouse into the lower left corner of the screen and move downwards. Then a list of recently opened programmes pops up. To use two programmes at the same time, users must drag an application from this list next to the one that’s already opened.

Other important functions are also hidden in the corners of the display for mouse users. If you move the pointer to the lower or upper right, the new Charm Bar opens. This allows users for example to look for files and share them with others on the internet. The Settings includes the control panel, which has the function to shut the computer down.

Microsoft has collected other tips in dealing with its new user interface and put them on its support website. Among the hints is how to close a programme — by clicking on it and dragging it from the top of the screen to the bottom.

But this step is not actually necessary according to the developers as the system does not slow down if many programmes are open. The usual classic programmes meanwhile run like normal on the desktop, complete with task bar and X button in the upper right corner to close it. You can reach the desktop by clicking on the corresponding tile or by using the key combination Windows and D.

Those who would like to get there directly when they start up must use some tricks, according to German computer magazine c’t. The free open source program Classic Shell can be used so that no tile pops up when the computer is started. It can also reconstruct the old start menu — or at least a copy that looks similar. And users can decide which programmes, folders and files are included in the menu.

1. Darken your screen

Your laptop screen is found to be the most power-hungry component of your laptop. Your laptop screen needs high amount of battery power to maintain it’s clear and luminous display. To preserve this power you can adjust it’s brightness to a low level.

2. Modify power settings

Windows Vista powered laptop comes with several outstanding power features. It can help you get the most proficient performance when your laptop is plugged and optimize it’s life when it’s on the move.

3. Turn off Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi is among the greatest battery power eater. It weakens your laptop’s battery from perpetually absorbing power from the battery even if your not online. If you are using your laptop outside from the wireless network it is more advisable to just turn off your Wi-Fi to save some power. If your laptop doesn’t have a function button to switch on or off your wireless adapter you can just go to control panel, access the Network Connections and disable it from there.

4. Switch off peripheral devices

USB sticks, mouse and webcams are the primary offenders in sucking out your batteries life.  Utilizing USB devices also contributes in draining your laptop’s power, disconnecting it when not in use, ejecting your devices as soon as possible and switching off your laptop’s inbuilt webcam can help conserve your laptop’s precious power.

5. Eject your disc drives

Having a disc spinning around in the drive also drains your resources. Just kick out your discs from the drive before you switch to battery power to acquire additional minutes from your work day.

6. Invest in some computer hardware

Usually laptops come with a six cell-battery, but a lot of makers today already provides eight or even 12-cell elective upgrades, which will definitely double your power. If you can afford it then why not invest more,  in the long run you will be surprise on how much energy and money you save just by investing on the right piece.

7. Disable features

Windows Vista has got new features, but most of them proves to be needless by a ordinary user or even to some expert users. One good example is the Windows Aero, switching it off not only it will help you save a small amount of power but it will also make your laptop more proficient.

Use a Mobile Signature Line

If you use email on your smartphone, you have the ability to create a custom email signature, and it’s very important that you do this. You can either keep the standard “sent from my [insert smartphone name here], or you can create your own. Having a signature line for your mobile device allows your email recipients to know that the email was sent from a mobile device, which may be why it sounds so short or contains misspellings.

Get To The Point

Nobody has time to read an email that contains multiple paragraphs. If you have something to share with someone via email, just share the gist of the information. Get straight to the point, and leave out all the fluff and unnecessary copy. Trust me, your recipients will be happy to spend 30 seconds on your email instead of 30 minutes.

Limit Your Attachments

Instead of sending attachments via email, which only take time to download and can take up a large portion of a person’s inbox, use an online file storage like Dropbox instead. This way, you can send an email that says “document is in Dropbox” instead of spending the time waiting for the file to send and then having your recipient spend the time waiting for it to download. Livedrive is another example of great online file storage and offer unlimited online storage.  Click here to sign up for a 30 day free trial – no credit card details required!

Edit Your Out of Office Reply

When you’re out of the office, it’s very important that you set up your out of office reply so that anyone who sends you an email knows that you’re gone and when you’ll be returning. But your out of office reply does not need to be four paragraphs long. If you’re only going to be gone for a day, put it in the subject line. Now, everyone knows that you’re gone and they don’t have to open the email. If you’ll be gone for a while, you can create an out of office reply, but keep it short. Let them know that you’re gone and when they can expect you back. You should also provide them with the contact information of someone else in the office who can help them during your absence.

Use Shorthand

In order to send emails more quickly, use shorthand (but make sure it’s shorthand that everyone knows). For example, if you need something by the end of the business day, use EOD. Typing three letters is done more quickly than typing out full thoughts. You may even want to consider creating shorthand for general office terms. For example, use an acronym to refer to business meetings or company databases.

Limit Website Contact Emails

If you run a website then you will know all about spam email. To reduce the number of emails that reach your inbox, filter them out before they reach you. There are a number of ways to do this. For example you can create a contact form to fill in if someone wants to email you. This way they have to add that extra effort to send an email. You can also add security to this contact form so a lot of spam is blocked from the start.

Pick up the Phone

I know that this world tends to be verbally anti-social, but if you need a quick answer or to share a quick piece of information, pick up the phone and call someone. This can be done much more quickly than typing out an email and hoping that the recipient sees it.

Email is still a popular form of communication, and instead of being weighed down by the hundreds of emails in your inbox, use these tips to help you manage your email and get back to focusing on your business.

Passwords and Security Questions

While this may seem obvious to some of you, there are still many people who do not know how to properly select passwords for themselves or security questions for that matter. When it comes to your passwords, you do not want to select anything that would be too easy for someone to guess. For example, do not use your mother’s maiden name or your first pet’s name because these are things that many people probably know about you and especially if you are someone who is a member of many communities online, these are facts that just about anyone may be able to figure out quickly.

When it comes to security questions, keep the same things in mind. Consider only using questions that you think no one would be able to figure out. If this means you need to stick to a trick question, then that’s fine; just make sure it’s something you won’t forget because the last thing you want is to be locked out of your accounts. It is important to protect your online accounts but not from you!

Be Careful Where You Share Your Personal Information

As we mentioned above, a lot of the times we are sharing more information these days about ourselves to complete strangers than we ever have in the past. Before you post something about yourself (especially on places like Facebook where it can seem safe), be sure to think about what you are doing. Everything you post on the internet has the potential of staying online forever. Do you really want to tell the world where you work or which bank you go to? Do you really think it’s necessary for them to know where you are currently? Things like this can prove to be quite dangerous and with so many millions of people constantly online, you can never be too safe.

Run a Free PC Privacy Scan Now

Make Sure You Know the Sites You Visit

Another very popular way that people can get your information without you even realizing it is through websites they create. This is why so many people only go to web pages that they are familiar with and trust. Harmful viruses can actually be attached to websites, meaning that anyone who logs on is going to have data automatically downloaded to their computers. A lot of the times this is going to be happening behind the scenes so you won’t even notice a thing. Your antivirus may not notice either, which is the scariest part of it all.

A lot of the times you can actually use your antivirus program to help you decide if a website is safe or not. For example, Norton actually has a little check mark next to each site that shows up in your search engine so that you can quickly determine which pages are safe or not. Some pages are going to show up with a red mark or a question mark if not enough people have visited the page. This does not necessarily mean the page isn’t safe but that Norton isn’t quite sure about the page so you should be cautious. Keeping your computer secure should be your number one priority.

Don’t Trust Anyone

While you want to think you can trust your best friend, your sister or maybe even your husband; it still may not be a very good idea to give them your passwords. The reason behind this is because you never know how things can change. What if you were to get into a fight or if you were to get divorced? What would that person be capable of? While you don’t want to think they would use your information against you or access information that you wish they wouldn’t, it can be really tough to predict the future. If you do run into a situation where you need to share such information, make sure you change your password soon after just to be safe.

These people can also unknowingly put you at risk by sending out broadcast emails, sharing too much on Facebook, and more.

Do you need to repair your computer but don’t have the time or the money to take it to a professional? That’s ok—I can help you fix seven common problems for free using resources you probably already have at home.

1—Run Your Anti-Virus

A huge number of the problems on modern computers are caused by viruses. Slow computers, stalled downloads, and strange errors are all symptoms of that scourge of modern computing.

If you have an anti-virus program installed, it doesn’t guarantee that it’ll catch every virus before it infects your computer. Just like real life viruses, sometimes computer viruses adapt just enough to get past your defenses.

However, the makers of anti-virus software are constantly updating their software to find last week’s and last month’s viruses, so if you run a full disk scan using your anti-virus software, you’ll probably find any active infections.

2—Clean Your Registry

This advice especially applies to old versions of Windows and computers which have seen a lot of action over the last year or so.

Every time you make a major change to your computer, Windows updates its Registry. Installing programs, removing programs, changing major settings, and a bunch more things all add information to the Windows Registry without ever cleaning it.

But as your Registry gets full, it also tends to stop performing as well. It slows down your computer, it gets confused and causes conflicts, and it may even crash and take down your computer.

Luckily, cleaning your Registry is easy and there are plenty of free and paid programs available which will help you do it. A software program will not upgrade your memory but it will clean out all the junk files, detect Malware, delete unused registry keys, Automatic Driver updates, and more.  At the moment I am using PC Matic to maintain everything for me. This software is amazing and has won a number of top awards. You can get a free scan for your computer to see how it works before you buy.

3—Safe Mode

Most people I’ve talked to about this subject seem to have no idea what safe mode is for. Do you? The answer is that it’s for fixing major problems with Windows by turning off some default actions. For example:

Safe mode will prevent most programs from starting up automatically, so if your problem is with one of those programs, you’ll discover it immediately.
Safe mode won’t load the drivers for most non-essential hardware, so if some of your hardware is malfunctioning, you’ll discover it immediately.
Safe mode can also help you discover damage from viruses, but I still think your anti-virus software is better equipped to deal with those problems
To access safe mode, press and hold the F8 key when your computer starts booting.

4—Blame Windows

Sometimes the problem with your computer is your operating system, Windows. That doesn’t necessarily mean Microsoft messed up—it could be that an old virus deleted an important file.

But diagnosing a problem with Windows from within Windows can be challenging. What you need is an outside authority—I suggest Linux.

You can download a “Live” Linux CD which won’t install anything on your computer but which will boot Linux for as long as the CD (or DVD) is in your disc drive. I suggest you use Ubuntu:

Go to the Ubuntu website using a working computer, download the current CD or DVD, whichever you prefer (DVDs have more stuff but take longer to download), burn the CD or DVD, and put it in your computer. Reboot your computer and see if it works.

If Linux can get your computer to work, then there’s nothing wrong with the hardware—there’s something wrong with Windows, which brings us to our next tip for how to repair your computer:

5—Reinstall Windows

In the Windows 95 and 98 days, we used to reinstall Windows about once a year just to keep things moving smoothly. That was the great thing about Windows XP—it was stable for much longer periods. But if you get a problem in Windows which you can’t fix any other way, reinstalling Windows is still your best option.

It’s important to backup all of your important files before you reinstall Windows. If your computer won’t boot Windows, either use the Linux method described above to access your files and copy them to DVDs or external hard drives, or take the hard drive out of your computer and use an external hard drive adapter to copy the files to another computer.

After backing up your files, reinstalling Windows should be easy. Most computers these days let you reinstall Windows from a special entry in your boot menu—if you can’t find that option, consult the manual which came with your computer or use a working computer to search for your model of computer on the Internet.

6—Blowing Your Problems Away

If the problem with your computer is hardware, not software, there may not be much you can do. Most modern electronics are not field serviceable—if they’re broke, they’re junk. However, there is one thing you can do to bring some electronics back to life: blow on them.

Specifically, blow the dust off of them. Dust is a powerful insulator—it’s technically almost exactly the same stuff (primarily cellulose) used in high-end home insulation to help keep heat inside your house during the winter and outside during the summer.

With the dust holding the heat inside your computer, parts begin to fail. Most modern electronics are only designed to work up until about 35 Celsius or 110 Fahrenheit before automatically shutting off to prevent severe damage or fire.

If you get rid of the dust, your parts won’t get as hot and they may begin to work again. But let me warn you: heat-damaged parts are more likely to fail than undamaged parts, so don’t expect miracles.

To clear the dust out of your powered-off computer, grab a handkerchief, cover your eyes, inhale through the handkerchief, and blow as hard as possible without spitting. Alternatively, you can work much faster (although not quite for free) by using a can of compressed air from your local supermarket or office supply store.

7—Your Last Resort

If none of the techniques described above helped you fix your computer, I suggest you call for help. Call the manufacturer—even if your computer is out of warranty. Most manufacturers have toll-free support numbers, so the call won’t cost you anything and the worst that can happen is that they’ll be unable to help you for free. On the other hand, they may know a free way to repair your computer.

computer security virus tips
How to Protect Your Computer From Viruses
With millions of computer users browsing the web at any given time, there are plenty of targets for malicious coders. While computer experts don’t always know why coders choose to build harmful computer programs, the fact is that it happens all the time. Computer viruses can steal personal information, interfere with normal operations, attract spam and even shut down your computer’s hard drive. Protecting your computer is critical for browsing success.

Start With the Basics
Most computer systems come with security features already in place. For example, the Windows operating system is packaged with Microsoft Windows Security Center. When you first open, boot up and register a new computer, you should make sure that this program is functioning. It will give basic protection against spyware, viruses and malware. In addition, a basic firewall is built into this program, providing additional protection and stops for potentially harmful programs. Upon activation, don’t be surprised if your security system needs immediate updating. Software that protects your computer needs regular and consistent updating to stay useful. Viruses are constantly being generated and the several-month lag between when your computer was made and when you first started using it can mean that the database the security system is loaded with is severely out-of-date.

Upgrade to Meet Your Needs
Many people operate computers for a long time with only basic protection in place. However, heavy computer users or those who have risky browsing habits can sometimes benefit from upgrading their virus, spyware and malware protection, as well as using a fuller-featured firewall; this is especially important if you use a networked computer system. Basic or free virus protection will still scan and update for viruses. Paid programs, however, offer more features, including ease-of-use and convenience features. The most important thing is to verify the publisher and make sure you are getting what is promised. Most well-known virus protection programs, such as AVG and Norton Security, have reviews available to help you make your choice.

Learn About Spyware Risks
Spyware creates risks that many computer users are not aware of. If you are only protecting against viruses, you could be leaving your computer open to damage. Most people are familiar with spyware that initiates and attracts annoying ad programs. Spyware, however, can be much more malicious as well. Your shopping habits can be tracked by spyware. While not exactly harmful, some people consider this a breach of privacy. The worst spyware programs interfere with normal operations and can even track what you type, sending personal information to people who want to steal your identity. Some spyware redirects your browser to different web addresses, increasing your risks of virus infection and fraud.

How Viruses Work
The main difference between spyware and viruses is how they are spread. A virus reproduces itself and attaches to any document that the computer sends, while spyware can be stored as a cookie or tracking code. A virus is most often found traveling with a piece of computer software, such as a document, picture or piece of music. When dealing with email, it is necessary to open an attachment to become infected, indicating that, in most cases, the computer user must somehow invite the malicious software to replicate on their system. Of course, most people have no idea it is there or what is happening. Some of the sneakiest and most harmful viruses actually masquerade as virus protection software, making them extremely hard to detect. Because of this, it’s crucial to be familiar with your particular virus protection program and know what it looks like and what the normal scripts and prompts are during operation. Viruses do some of the same things that spyware does; they just accomplish it differently. An active virus can steal personal information, generate ads or shut down your system, including the very virus protection programs that can fix the issue.

Take Steps For Protection
Like anything, the best way to protect against viruses is to be educated. Become familiar with what malicious software may look like. If you get an email or are asked to download a file that you don’t recognize or looks suspicious, do your homework. Research virus protection, spyware, malware and firewall programs and use them to their fullest capacity. Set the software to update and scan automatically to make sure that the system is constantly monitored. In addition, regularly check on the databases published by various virus protection services; many will provide lists of symptoms and risks, as well as the standard way the file gains access for no cost to the public.

NEW DELHI: On the internet, passwords offer the first line of defence and they are necessary to keep your accounts safe. However, most of us while choosing passwords for various accounts on the internet bypass certain basic criteria. Mostly for the convenience of remembering, we tend to keep the same password for all the accounts. In most cases, easy-to-guess passwords are set thereby compromising online security.

A password is more of a lock than a key. Hence, it is really important to have strong passwords to your various services online so that you can defend against cyber criminals.

Here are some tips to what an ideal password should have:

*Always use a unique, alpha-numeric password for all your important accounts.

*Keep the password long and make sure it is alpha-numeric which means it should have combination of letters, numerals, symbols and, of course, it should be case sensitive. The minimum length of your password should be at least eight characters. What many people do not know is that you can also include spaces in between the characters.

For an eight character long password, after all the possible combinations, there are 6 quadrillion possibilities which is quite hard to guess.

*Make sure that your password does not contain your user name, real name or company name and also it is not a complete word. The other way is to reverse the order of the characters. For example, Hell0u2@ can also be written as @2u0lleH which is a strong password. Though it is not necessarily the best option, but still better than keeping words the way they are spelt.

*It is always advisable to keep changing your passwords regularly and also making sure that password recovery options are safe and up-to-date in case you forget (which will happen often!).

How to see if my password is strong or not
The password that you might have set meets all the criteria mentioned previously and still be a weak password.

For example, mouse2u@ meets all the criteria for a strong password listed above, but is still weak because it contains a complete word. M0u5E 2u @ is a stronger option because it replaces some of the letters in the complete word with numbers and also includes spaces.

You can also check the strength of your password at: microsoft.com/en-gb/security/ pc-security/password-checker.aspx

Use a unique password
Since most people have accounts on different websites and for numerous services, it is always advisable that you keep a unique password for each. This prevents hackers form stealing your password from a less secure website. However, if you find it difficult to remember different passwords then choose unique passwords for important accounts like your email and online banking.

How do I remember my passwords?
Remembering multiple passwords for most of us proves to be a difficult task. However, if you follow these tips, remembering passwords can be easy.

*Whatever password you plan to set, relate it to an event, date or a hobby that is easy to remember.

*Create an acronym for that piece of information which you want to set as your password. For example, pick a phrase that is meaningful to you, like I graduated on 21 June, 2005. So, a probable password option can be i6rad/JU21,zo 05

*Shorthand, misspellings, adding spaces in between letters or words give strength to a password. Turn words into shorthand or intentionally misspell a word.

* Keep your recovery email address information always updated. Services like Gmail, for instance, also offer the facility to receive password reset codes through SMS. Most of the websites ask you to choose a question to verify your identity if you ever forget your password.

*If you have saved you password on your PC, then choose a unique name for the file and keep it hidden.

What other precautions should I take to keep my accounts safe
Most of the security breach cases happen due to installation of malicious software on PCs. Here is a list of Don'ts that you should follow:

*Don't set dictionary words as passwords

*Never set your date of birth or your family member's date of birth as password. Avoid using your company's name, phone number, bank account number or any other vital information in your password.

*Never ever write your passwords on any paper or any place from where they are easily accessible.

*Simple passwords spelled in reverse order, common misspellings and abbreviations or common patterns and combinations.

*Don't accept any end-user agreement without reading the fine print first.

* Never retain spam emails in your inbox.

*When you are visiting any new website, never click ad links or flash ads no matter how appealing or real-looking they are. Also, never enter your email account details on such websites.

*Passwords such as 123456, password1, abc123, 123abc, qwerty, iloveyou, iloveu etc. should be strictly avoided. According to a report by SplashData, these passwords are an example of some of the worst kept secrets by people globally.

Enable Registry Editor disabled by Administrator or Virus

Registry Editor is a useful utility in Windows which allows users to easily change advanced Windows settings by altering registry keys present in a hierarchical arrangement called the Windows Registry. Despite being such a powerful tool, Registry Editor is not totally error-proof.

A simple virus infection is all it takes to render it useless. Or, there are times when your administrator has actually disabled Registry Editing. When you try to open the Registry Editor in one such computer, you are likely to receive the“Registry editing has been disabled by your administrator” error. Due to this error, it is impossible to remove this restriction using Registry Editor itself.
REGISTER EDIT

Windows Registry Editor

This article suggests some workarounds for re-enabling Registry editing in a computer running Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003/ 2008 or Windows 7.

Enable Registry Editor Using Group Policy Editor

Click on Start. Go to Run. Users running Windows 7 or Vista, go to Search.
Type gpedit.msc and press Enter.
Navigate to User Configuration/ Administrative Templates / System.
In the work area, double click on "Prevent Access to registry editing tools".
In the popup window, encircle Disable and click on OK.
Normally, Registry Editor will be immediately accessible. If it is not, restart your PC.

Enabling Registry Editor using UnHookExec.inf from Symantec

Symantec has created a small .inf file which can be installed to remove restrictions on modifying registry keys at the click of a mouse. Most viruses, spywares, Trojans or worms normally affect the shell\open\command keys which allows them to run each time when a file of specific type is executed. Normally, they associate their execution with .exe files. UnHookExec.inf not only enables registry editing but also removes such associations.

Just save UnHookExec.inf and install it by right clicking and selecting install. Installing the file will not show any popup or notice box.

Enable Regedit by simply running a CMD Command

Click on Start. Go to Run. Users running Windows 7 or Vista, go to Search.
Copy the code given below and press Enter.
reg add "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" /t Reg_dword /v DisableRegistryTools /f /d 0

Visual Basic Script to Enable/ Disable Registry Editor

 Doug Knox has created a VBS Script which allows users  to easily enable and disable Registry Editor. Just download regedit tools.vbs and double click on it. This script reverses the current state of Registry Editor. If registry editing is set to enabled, this script will disable it and if it is disabled, it will enable it.

If the above link does not work, copy the code given below in Notepad and save the file as *.vbs or Registry Editor.vbs.

Option Explicit
Dim WSHShell, n, MyBox, p, t, mustboot, errnum, vers
Dim enab, disab, jobfunc, itemtype
Set WSHShell = WScript.CreateObject("WScript.Shell")
p = "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\"
p = p & "DisableRegistryTools"
itemtype = "REG_DWORD"
mustboot = "Log off and back on, or restart your pc to" & vbCR & "effect the changes"
enab = "ENABLED"
disab = "DISABLED"
jobfunc = "Registry Editing Tools are now "
t = "Confirmation"
Err.Clear
On Error Resume Next
n = WSHShell.RegRead (p)
On Error Goto 0
errnum = Err.Number
if errnum <> 0 then
 WSHShell.RegWrite p, 0, itemtype
End If
If n = 0 Then
 n = 1
WSHShell.RegWrite p, n, itemtype
Mybox = MsgBox(jobfunc & disab & vbCR & mustboot, 4096, t)
ElseIf n = 1 then
 n = 0
WSHShell.RegWrite p, n, itemtype
Mybox = MsgBox(jobfunc & enab & vbCR & mustboot, 4096, t)
End If
After running the VBS file, if Registry Editing is not enabled, try restarting your PC.

*Do you know that you can use your Notepad as a simple digital diary or a personal Log-Book to keep record of your daily work instead of using boring pen and book ? Well, if you dont know then follow the below mentioned steps to make one for yourself !

*First open up the Notepad.
*Then Type in .LOG (in capital letters) and press enter.
*Save it with any name and close it.
*Open the file again.

              *When you open the file again you will see the current date and time being inserted automatically after the .LOG line. This will happen automatically every time you reopen the the notepad file.
